Default QuickJack

Just wanted to share some info about my experiences lifting a D3 with Quickjacks.

I have the BL5000SLX and the lift extenders that make the total length 66in.
  • You have to set it up to cross lift because its still not long enough to raise via the factory jacking points.
  • I used the smaller rubber lifting block and an Audi style puck on top of them.
  • The car by nature is staggered to be lower in the front, even in lift mode.
  • You will fiddle with the front more than the back to get it aligned.
  • I have 2 styles of pucks and needed to use the shorter height style to make it work by putting the puck in place and sliding the block under it. Tight fit.
  • Lifting was weird.
    • The back lifted first and the front took a while to lift.
    • They say this cross lift method is best for 50/50 weight distributed cars.
    • My gas tank was full but the back still lifted first.
    • Eventually the back lifted past both locking points but the front only made it to the first locking point
    • I had to keep lifting until eventually the front made it to the second locking point too
  • The car shifts left->right by about 6-8 inches when lifting this way so make sure you have room on the side the jacks will lift toward in order to properly accommodate
  • Lowering was straight forward.
    • I used a broom handle to reset the lifting locks given they are now under the car.
As you can see there is plenty of room under there. They were sturdy but if you are going under I would add some jack stands too for piece of mind. I did try to add more hydraulic fluid to the pump and re bled it as well as verified the air pressure was correct in the front jack. Really not sure if there is some issue or if this is normal behavior when doing a cross lift.

Hope someone finds this helpful

I spoke directly with Quick Jacks (Bend Pak), before ordering, and the recommendation was the 6000 EXL for the D3 S8. That is what I have. Granted the shorter units may provide alternative jacking methods as you describe and that may help in application of shorter vehicles for the owner but the cross jacking method you are stuck with may limit what you can do. My $.02.
... (edit) one more. I back over over my Quick Jacks every time I park my S8 in the garage... every day... I have yet to clip them when backing in. That is where I store them. I don't need to move them around except for when I choose to use them. BTW, my S8 is at stock ride height.

I looked at the 6000 EXL also but these were a great price used. Even with the cost of the frame extensions factored in they were considerably less expensive. That model also would not fit my other vehicles. From what I saw there is clear access to engine/trans for all maintenance. Exhaust work might be tight but you should be able to manage. I should have taken more pictures to show the front. Unfortunately I can't keep the quickjacks on the floor all the time, because of the winters here.

I do not have the ceiling height to lift much more than 2 feet.

I was looking at getting the 700tlx because u measured up the jack points from front to back and they are right at max length for lift points . Max lift point 70” and frame length is 76” .
so what your saying is maybe go smaller but run it across the body ( underneath)

I took a look at Quick Jacks website and the 5000TLX and 7000TLX have a max lift point of 66". Interested to know where the 70" max lift you mention is coming from. Seeking to learn. I also looked through the manual and it doesn't mention you can't use the jacks in a perpendicular fashion (to the front of the vehicle). However, the manual only mentions using the jacks in a parallel fashion (to the front of the car) with the Radial Shift Direction (lift power direction) pointing to the front of the car. When the jacks are placed perpendicular the front jack takes on the most load for a front engine vehicle. I wonder if the front jack is being overloaded or close to being overloaded. Best way to check is the suggestion of weighing the car on the front jacking points only... not under the front tires. A local automotive / performance shop with scales may be able to help with that.

They have videos that show you can lift across the vehicle safely, however they recommend doing it with 50/50 weight distributed cars.

In my case I have several vehicles and the longer 76in model would work for the D3 but not the others.

https://quickjack.com/compare/specifications/ show the new ones. Mine is an earlier model with a 60in lift point spread and with the frame rail adapter it goes to 66.

So I looked into the 6000elx, it says it has max lift spread of 76”. Now I know for a fact that’s enough to lift my short wheel base, but I’m not sure it will work the Long D3(front to back).
If you can safely lift side to side , than the 6000elx should do the trick just need to verify it’s safe to do so because our cars are nose heavy

I lifted side to side with 66 inch spread. Look at the first post on this thread.
