Default Battery adaptation h8 to h9 using obdeleven

My 2014 q5 tdi still had the oe battery (date code July 2013!) So I decided to replace it before any issues showed up in the middle of nowhere. Costco had the choice between Mexico made h8's or German h9's with the bem code under the interstate label so I opted for the h9. I could not for the life of me get obdeleven to take the bem code. I even tried using the audi part # for the 105ah battery but kept getting error 31 function not available. I was able to index the existing serial number by 1 so the car is recognizing it as a new battery albeit the 95ah one. Any tips or tricks to get it to take?

Are you putting two spaces between the ...D and JCB, and one space between the JCB and 44...? The field format is:
11 characters part number, pad with trailing spaces as necessary
space
3 characters manufacturer
space
10 characters serial number

It seems it was something about the part number that obd eleven did not like. I removed the "7P0" and replaced with "000" and it took it that way. How do i confirm that it is updated to the 105ah vs 95ah - or does that not matter?

OBDeleven should not be parsing the adaptation value. It could be the B8.5 version of the J533 doesn't have those newer 7P0 (Mk2 Touareg) p/ns. My Aug '08 made J533 will not accept the field replacement ("000") version of the H8 AGM p/n (000915105CE), so I just stick to the one it came from the factory with (4F0915105E). The field replacement p/n for H9 AGM is 000915105CF. The factory install p/n for H9 AGM in that era, 4L0915105, might work (no rev letters, 4L0 = Mk1 Q7).

000915105D, no idea what that would represent. All the 000 tend to be Cx (AGM), Dx (wet flood), or Ex (EFB). Parts catalog doesn't even acknowledge such a p/n.

Interesting enough 4L0915105 worked BUT only with also using vao as the manufacturer instead of jcb and adding 3 spaces between part number and manufacturer.

The three spaces is a given per what I typed above, there has to be 11 characters for the p/n, so no rev letters means you have to pad with two additional spaces, and then the space before the vendor code. The vendor code should be able to be whatever known three character string; odd that it would only take VA0. The vendor code is not used for anything other than record keeping, so it doesn't really matter what goes in for it.
