RE: front and centre also rear differential oil change
has anyone done that? should I also change the centre differential oil too? is that a lifetime oil? Are there anyone can help me? Thanks.
The front diff is integrated into the transmission housing in all of the MLB platform transmissions. But not all use a separate gear oil for the front diff. In the 6MT and the DCT transmissions, the front diff is lubricated by the gearbox MTF.
In the 0B5, the "DCT fluid", ie the ATF, is for the dual clutches and the mechatronics. The MTF is what handles the gearbox, the front diff, and the center diff.
Look around the S4 and S5 threads, you'll find threads discussing the DL501 aka type 0B5 transmission and its relevant fluid logistics.
