2012 Q5 Liftgate height not adjusting

The liftgate of my 2012 Q5 is not not adjusting to the height I am programing (open to desired height, press button for 5sec, see lights flashing).It still returns to the head-bumping position.

What steps shall I try next?

Have the lift gate struts ever been changed? A weak strut(s) may be the cause.

Thanks for posting. Not sure, but I don't think so. I don't have the car history yet.

Changed them and no more head bumping.
