Damaged engine noise, what could it be? 4.2 TDI
Strange noises in the engine, could it be a damaged timing chain? The noise comes from the right cylinder head on the passenger side. The car starts, the engine runs smoothly without vibrations, but the only issue is the noise. What could be the cause?

I had a similar issue with my 4.2 TDI, and it turned out to be a worn-out timing chain tensioner. If you're hearing noise from the passenger side cylinder head, that could be a clue.
