MMI select

I just got this one running from a no start condition due to a broken steering column lock. Now when trying to select anything with the MMI I can scroll to my hearts content, but when I push on the button to select nothing happens? Anyone familiar with this or heard of it before. No codes that I am seeing in VCDS that would indicate an issue.

Most likely a bad selector **** on the MMI control panel. Could just need cleaning, or it’s bad and a replacement control panel is needed.

before I take the center console apart is that center button able to be cleaned? Most post I see are for the buttons around the MMI

As much as the buttons are. They’re all on the same board.

If I need to replace does the MMI require vin coding? If so can it be done through VCDS or carprog without in circuit soldering(6pin eeprom)?

The MMI control panel is not VIN locked. Straight swap plug and play. Loads available used online. Just consider its a common failure item (because of where the cup holders are, they often get drinks spilled onto them) so make sure to buy from a reputable seller with good return policies.

Thanks, 10 minutes later and I have button select again. Super simple and there are circuit boards available on amazon/ebay if you can't find a replacement.
