Central Locking Query
Ive searched here but can’t find my particular fact pattern.
The issue I’m having is that the central locking won’t unlock the drivers door but the key will
All other doors are working fine ( I don’t have keyless entry by the way)
Is this something that will require door disassembly to assess?
Thanks for any pointers in advance

If you don't hear the lock-motor actuator move in the front door...clue. It could be unplugged or be frozen/bad.
If you do hear it move, then there's most likely just a connector bar or cable inside the door that's loose from a connection point. This is not uncommon if someone took the door panel completely off and then didn't pay attention to reconnect/secure the linkages when putting it back on again.
it’s a new issue.Remote unlocked the driver’s door intermittently up until Christmas. It now almost never works, of course this morning I went out and stuck my ear against the door to doublecheck if I could hear the actuator, lo and behold it opened the driver door!
I don’t think the door card has ever been taken off….
So, if it's just been getting janky /intermittent try using the double-click and see what happens, and look at the led indicator on the key fob to see if it is flashing slowly/quickly, whatever...the flashing is to tell you the battery and comms status with the car's receiver. Replacing the CR2032 key fob battery is cheap insurance against disappointments/problems; I change my key fob batteries every year.
Diff markets often get different options baked into their build sheets. In the USA market, for example, every Q7 is a three-row seating model and AFAIK, they all appear to have the Audi smart-key system, which has the sensorized door handles you speak of, and also tracks driver preferences and memory settings for seating/mirrors, etc., based on which key fob is being used.
That's really nice tech for sure, but you do still run into the same basic issues when key fob battery gets low, and/or the comms with the car's security system become sporadic, or ground faults develop in the system. Sure, you could have an issue with the actuator itself, but first you do the simple tests and eliminate the obvious possible faults, like scan car for faults, and replacing the battery in the key fob(s), and if you have the 2nd key fob for it, that's a testing and verification point as well, etc. In the owner's manual outline of the key fob use/operating guide, it outlines the coded light flash patterns from the LED on key fob and what they actually mean, which can be helpful to identify if there is a comms problem between the remote key fob and the car's receiver.
Good luck!
So you walk up to the car, press unlock and the whole family gets in, except you, who is standing tugging at the handle.
Press the button again. sometiems that works
For me, I ended up parking my car, opening thee drivers window and closing this door.
Lock the car, Unlock it and then use both the inside and outside handles with a little force. Kinda yank the door unlocked
2-3 times and it works again for a bit
I had some otheer issues and ran the battery flat (User error), after jump starting it, everything works first time! so maybe it was a reset of sorts
