Seems normal to me. Not sure how old your battery is but the cold will have an impact. If you can, use a trickle charger when parked. Makes a world of difference with the battery.

How old is the battery? 5+ years you’re on borrowed time. Extreme cold will show up a battery that’s marginal that’s probably due for replacement.

Why buy a new battery before checking the alternator charge voltage? A simple multimeter costs $10 if you don't already have one (which you should).

I've referenced a tender several times in these forums because I've had my battery since 2019 and I live in the white north. I've also had a battery tender in use since then. Its helped considerably with the life and condition. Before using the tender, I had replaced the battery in 2016 but it didn't last very long.

Agree in my experience 5 years is about average life of a battery. I live in the desert with 100+ degrees during the summer and I'm lucky to get 5 years.

No doubt that they work. But they’re not really practical for a daily driver that just needs to work when you need it.

You could, but why would you? The car will tell you by itself if the alternator voltage isn’t up to spec. In fact the car is telling him more than that via the battery charge meter readings.

Evidence here is a battery of unknown age in very cold weather is not holding a charge. Kind of 101 as to what the problem is, no?
