Default Deleting EGR and DPF

Several months ago, my 2014 Q7 started to have recurrent Lim mode problems with the glow plug signal coming on. Obtained a scanner which indicated it was due to a clogged DPF and a stuck open EGR valve. I had a shop take the DPF off And had it cleaned. It solved the problem temporarily. After watching many YouTube videos, I decided to do my own delete of The EGR and engine oil cooler are off. The valley was full of coolant and oil even before I. I’ll be putting new gaskets in. The DPF is off after hours of expletives and Houdini like manipulations. I’m getting ready to reinstall everything. I did crack the manifold removing it. A used one is on the way. $67 versus $600 on eBay. The last modification is putting the plate for the EGR onto the Turbo. That looks to be a pita as well. Yes, I can turn a wrench, but my patience has been worn. Any wisdom to avoid complications as I reinstall the components? Thank youu

While you are in the engine valley, replace the black plastic stuff you see in there...especially the coolant valve for the cylinder circuit, which is the most likely reason why you've got coolant in the engine valley in the first place; the thermoplastic housing on it cracks and leaks directly into the valley. Any old hoses and plastic hose connections in that area are subject to failure as well due to the heat cycling.

If you bought a Malone/Tunezilla tune, or are shopping it, be aware they offer the original TCU 'factory tune' (rollback from dieselgate TCU tune) for free w/ECU tune purchase, and you definitely want this.

You don't mention the mileage on your '14, but the Bosch CP4 HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump) is mounted at the extreme rear of the engine valley on the Gen 2 TDI motor you got in there, and so if yours has never been replaced prior, that's also worth considering if your goal is to 'bulletproof' your TDI for the foreseeable future. Things get real painful and expensive if your HPFP shreds itself internally, contaminating the entire fuel system, and there are recently active threads on here related the HPFP failing if you want to check those out.

For getting the block off plate onto the turbo, I recommend that you go long with your T30 socket. I used, IIRC, a 6" extension on the T30, which allowed me to reach through the exhaust downpipe from the left (driver) side of the car. I inserted the plate with the first bolt together, held it with one hand, and reached through with the T30+extension in the other hand to carefully thread into place. Once you get the upper bolt threaded to hold the plate, the second one is a piece of cake. Just be very, very careful not to drop the bolts into the abyss!
