Default SQ5 Coolant Leak - so how does this connecter separate?

I have an Audi SQ5 which has developed a coolant leak in the valley. I’m currently removing cables etc for access and I’ve found a troublesome connector on the coolant over flow pipe. I’ve included a picture of the problem child below. Is it simply lifting up the metal tang and pulling the white plastic connectors apart or is there a special knack?

Thank you

Ah, yes. That one is a PITA. It's simple, but tricky. I'll let this guy explain it to you. He has a tendency to ramble, but I marked the time such that hopefully the link will take you right there.

PS - I recorded my journey of removing the EGR cooler last summer, and edited it into a series of four hours (sorry!) with the intent that various details might be preserved that are otherwise never preserved from those that want people to actually watch their 20-minute montage of a job that actually took them upwards of twelve hours to perform. In this case, I just wanted to make the info available out there for those "aw, darn, I'm stuck and need a little nudge!" moments.

A massive thank you. The internet is truly a great place. I removed the pesky connector thanks to your video link. Now on to the stuck intake manifold. Despite removing the 12 bolts the thing refuses to budge.

I’ve also seen I posted this in the Q7 section. Apologies.

Great!

If this is the first time removing the intake, it may help to take a rubber mallet to it. A few firm taps to the left and right near the front, as well as down on that section, then try to lift up with a firm quick motion in the middle by wedging the handle between the EGR cooler and the intake. As soon as it pops loose, it just takes some wiggling to get it to slip out. Some how, it always seems to go back in much easier than it comes out.

Thank you for your guidance! The manifold is out. As you suggested, tapping it with a rubber mallet from different angles and firm wiggling helped release it.

I've now got the EGR, oil cooler and base plate all removed.

Next step is to get replacements seals and items ordered.

Is there a good practice list of what to replace to resolve the leak?

Thank you.

Rokkan, this is the thread where we consolidated and discussed such details. The link should take you to the initial parts list I posted there, though there are several later posts that revised that list through the experiences of others, so take some times to read through that thread.

I suppose I should have asked what engine you have in yours. I have assumed that we're talking about a 3.0L TDI (2nd gen).

Hello, I have the UK Spec 2014 SQ5 with the 3.0l V6 TDI, 313HP. I will take a look at the link and get ordering.
