GEN1 Oil Cooler FIX
Hello,
I have 2011 Q7 Gen 1.2 and I was wondering if there was a good video or a step by step for changing out the components in the engine valley.
It seems like 90% of the write ups on this site are GEN2 for this task.
There are enough differences between the two, that don't apply.
I have searched some Touareg, and Porsche sites without any luck.
Does the audi shop manual break this job down?

The thing is, the oil cooler leaking gets blamed a lot on these TDIs, both Gen 1 and Gen 2 engines, and while sometimes the oil cooler seals have actually failed, more often, unless you can see oil in the valley or there's coolant in the oil or vice versa, then it's not the oil cooler that's the problem, although while you are in the valley you'll want to replace those seals as well.
Pay attention to the known coolant leak points on Gen 1 TDI, which includes 'crack-pipe' going over the top of engine valley (leaks into valley), and the EGR Cooler's coolant control valve, which is known to leak slowly into the engine valley when the actuator arm on it moves, etc. (an old age issue). The Gen 2 has similar coolant leaks as well, just from slightly diff location/parts.
