Changing Alternator SOLVED
Just got a quote of $1800 to replace alternator. Thats going to hurt.
Problem solved, Drive belt replaced plus tensioner seized.
How difficult is it to change? Is there a detailed step by step available online.
I am guessing it is the alternator. The check battery light came on and then all of the electronics acted up and the engine shut off. Installed a new battery and battery light came on immediately but I was able to drive 45 minutes before everything failed again.

Its not too difficult, however it is liquid cooled so take that into consideration when factoring in material costs. But scan the car first to be sure it is the alternator. I guess the garage must have done that.

AAA checked it on the highway. I will have it rescanned to be sure. Can any auto parts store do alternator check?
