2014 Audi Q7 No crank No start transmission stuck in park
Back into these audis. I have a Q7 with the 3.0T. It will not start, or turn over. I checked the known issue with the TCM wire - the TCM was indeed getting power but the wire was corroded and the mat was wet. I fixed the wire anyway. No change.
-When pulling the relay under the drivers seat, dash lights up with everything
-When plugging in the relay, the dash says to remove the key from the ignition and won't start
-When manually activating the relay under the seat, I can get the vehicle to start and drove it up and down the street.
-When I go to cut the key off, the engine stays running and I cant pull they key out until I pull the relay under the seat.
I'm not getting any logged codes regarding TCM or transmission issues
Any ideas?
Relays are cheap to replace and you may be able to simply swap it with another of same type on the car (from a nonessential circuit) as an easy check. As you say you had to manually 'activate' the relay to start the car, and had to manually 'pull' the relay to get it to shut off, that tells you it is either the relay itself is failed internally, or the problem is the switching device upstream from the relay (whatever activates that relay), or limiters/safety switches in that circuit. I'd start with the relay, as that is some low-hanging fruit right there...easy to test and cheap to replace. Failed relays don't throw codes out either.
https://fuseandrelay.com/audi/q7.htm,
Common faults on the car are the brake pedal safety switch being loose/damaged and/or the transmission Park/Neutral safety switch having issue. You mentioned you got water in your floormats on passenger side? Water leaks/backed up HVAC and/or plenum drains are all known issues that can cause great amounts of woe related to the wiring/control modules locations leading to shorts/corrosion issues.
I don't think there's a TCM issue. However there's some issue between the ignition and terminal 15. Does anyone know where I can find wiring diagrams for the ignition switch? I'm wondering if there's a problem with the ignition switch sending power to terminal 15...but I really have no idea how that works.
