Adaptive air suspension retrofit?
I'm sure there's a thread somewhere, but I can't seem to find it, so I'll just ask: anyone ever done a steel suspension -> aas retrofit? I'm toying with the idea, but no clue how much it would cost/how difficult it would be. Any and all advice/input is appreciated.

@GeriatricGinger did a write-up on converting his Q7 from steel susp to a hybrid of the factory air suspension parts off a Cayenne donor car, along with using aftermarket air controllers, etc., so check that out if interested in different options. IIRC, his is still a work in progress, although he can lift/lower the car now using the air bag units at the corners via the aftermarket controller, etc.
Other owners on here have posted on their change to coilovers and lowering their car w/o taking penalty on ride comfort/quality, etc., and they love it. Neither option is inexpensive, as you don't want to buy cheap dampers/springs, etc., for a vehicle that weighs so much.
Don't forget the susp on here is same as the Cayenne and the Touareg, so expand your research bubble to include those other models...to see what others have done, etc., and for sourcing parts from.

I'm working on one with 100% OEM parts, some used and some new. I have an exhaustive list of part numbers, adaptations for VCDS, and a spreadsheet of wiring diagrams for all modules.
