2014 TDI brake fluid change procedure
Looking to change brake fluid in my 2014 tdi.
I have done this on my vws with pressure bleeder. Just wondering if the procedure is the same ? Do you need to do anything via VCDS ?
Dot 4 fluid
Sequance FR, FL, RR, RL
Thanks
Don't assume process to be the same as what you did with prior VW car. There are two bleed nipples each caliper...inside first, then outside, etc. You definitetly do need to use VCDS to run the ABS pump; it's got a brake bleeding sequence in VCDS.
There's a known vacuum leak that occurs at the junction of the brake booster vac line (female side) to the engine vacuum line (male connector side), so be sure to check that out...simply related to heat cycling and female side connector splits open/leaks vacuum, etc. The connection is in engine bay, but right at the firewall, passenger side on LHD models. A sympom is the spongy brake pedal and loss of brake assist, which gets worse as the vacuum leak increases over time. Drives owners nuts. There's also a known issue where the ABS pump can have a leaky seal allowing air into the system, but stick to the low hanging fruit first...ABS pump is a 'last resort' item.
Like so many of the simple things you take for granted with regular older cars, the Q7 has a 'defined procedure' for correctly bleeding brakes, mounting the wheels to prevent vibration issues, refilling the cooling system, etc., etc. It's best not to assume anything you think you know about cars applies to the Q7, LOL, and I'm not kidding.
