01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N199) 001
Thanks for reading.
Also in top video, the guy says he is working on his Audi A4...so yeah, not a Q7, and the code he showed was for the side airbag contained in the side of the seat on his A4...not the curtain-style airbag that descends from the roof of the car and runs back to 2nd row; 3rd row also has side curtain airbags...fancy car...lotta air bags. Note that the 2nd row seat-mounted, side airbags were optional, but are standard equip for front row seats.
Second video; this guy is listening to Audi or someone he paid to run a diagnostic on his car, and they want to replace the entire unit, etc., and so I don't get the feeling he really understands the diagnostics part of this and interpreting the data from a scan tool , although he shares some useful info on where to find the igniters for the front, side-curtain airbags and how to remove the upper console and trim bits, which is useful for swapping bulbs out, etc.
Bottom line; Do the research related to your car. Take the exact error code and go look it up on the Ross-Tech Wiki site. It's free information, and like the guy in first video said, if there are TSBs they link those for you, etc. A TSB will typically provide you very specific details about the procedural steps involved. Sometimes you will see the troubleshooting steps are the same between various models, such as the A6 and Q7, for example, so just pay attention to what is presented. Here's a direct link to the WIKI landing page, which you should bookmark.

Thanks,
The repair manual for this Q7, and I believe I have the same one, covers all models years and engine variants, so yes, it is pretty huge PDF document. What you do is find the section with your car's engine, then look at the index to see what pages you need to look at, etc. Since it is a huge pdf, whatever page the index starts on is your baseline, so you look at top of PDF...see the page counter...then you add whatever page # you need to that current page value in the PDF; enter that # to replace existing value and hit Enter/Return on your keyboard, and it will take you to the page value entered, etc.
For wiring diagrams, those may exist in the chapters, but more likely there's just a section at the end of your 'manual' for that engine selection with the electrical diagrams, etc.
Honestly, when I was changing out battery I simply unbolted the driver's seat in our '15, and set it out in the yard for cleaning & repaint (Racing Red) and seal the metal because it was badly rusted/corroded underneath, and it isn't difficult to remove the seat entirely from car. If there is any signs of corrosion on metal beneath the seat that's what you want to do anyways, and it would help explain why you getting a fault code for the seat airbag too. At some point you have to take the initiative and follow the advice given, or you just get out of your own way and go pay someone a lot of money to repair a basic wiring connector issue (most likely).
FWIW: Our '15 TDI was originally a New Jersey car that spent a lot of time in Wintry conditions along the East coast, and upon close inspection you could see the factory 'all-weather' floormats simply weren't up to the task to contain the slush/snow/water/road chemicals tracked into the car. It's too bad, as they look nice and are comfortable on the feet, but not very effective for wet weather type conditions...water just runs right off them at the rear.
Tossed those rubber factory mats into the garbage and replaced with the HUSKY liners floor mats (after I spent a good bit of time removing/controlling the corrosion first, etc.)...lifetime guaranteed, custom fitted, inexpensive compared to Weather-Tech (and bonus, they also fit better with more coverage) and they hold their water and protect the interior like they should.
Finally, a real value item everyone needs in their Q7.
