mmi black screen
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can shed any light before I dig any further with this fault that has developed.
2008 Q7 3.0 base model which frequently has blank screen and the buttons for radio in centre near gear shifter do not light up.
Vehicle fitted with Mr12volt optical CarPlay system and aftermarket reversing camera, which often still show on display. BUT the factory system is doing zero, no lights and just blank.
Used VCDS to do a full scan which shows no communication with some of the devices. BUT oddly the Optical test show OK against everything component wise for both ELECTRICAL & OPTICAL.

If you lost the switch lights for the MMI controller that tells you everything you need to know. The LEDs are located on the MMI circuit board that sits beneath the controller/console area. A common issue normally associated with water/drink spills onto the MMI controls/console, etc. It's not difficult to DIY swap it, but you need to be 100% sure you get the correct MMI circuit board specific for your MMI version, etc. 2008 is the 2G, IIRC, but look it up if you don't know. Since you got a Carplay adapter on it you should know what it is.
