FR: Annoying sounds in habitacle
there is an annoying sound in the front aeration duct (left side in my RHD model). It clicks when the road isn’t smooth, like some piece inside is loose, deep down.
My problem is that I don’t know how to access the deep part of the duct (already took off the front panel but the duct isn’t straight so the hand can’t go far inside).
Does anyone face the same issue and know how to check what’s wrong ?
I have been able to fix numerous habitacle noises but this one is a tough one to fix.
Thanks!
There is an HVAC test sequence you can run if you have Ross-Tech VCDS scan tool that cycles through the blend doors for you.
Also, have you checked/replaced your HVAC cabin filter lately? The HVAC blower fan can also make noises, and those are known to fail as well. It'd be a lot less likely you've got something actually rattling around inside the vent tubes unless you have small children that ride in the car, as kids do like to put things where they don't belong.

I was wondering if there is a reset procedure for the blend door HVAC. That may do the trick if it isn’t broken. Couldn’t find it for Q7…

In my own Q7s, when lifting the seats for battery access, etc. I've run across the prior owner's pens, paper clips, coins, business cards, etc., etc. all rattling around on/ in a plastic piece located adjacent to the battery box, right next to the center console, but down by the base of the seat tracks, etc. It's kind of a 'catch-all' spot, and things can jiggle and make annoying noise depending on what they are and the road surface, etc.
Thanks for your quick reply, let me have a go through the manual cycle.
This catch-all area you mention is amazing! German engineering at its peak! Large enough for small objects to fall, too narrow for fingers to slide through and inaccessible otherwise. But my sound issue is definitely in the duct.
Cheers
