Default Headlights

Last Golden issue to acquire good bill of health! Headlight assembly holding water, condensation and fogged from the inside.
I had a headlight out and stopped over to O Reilleys auto parts to price bulbs, they quoted $130 per bulb. NOPE! I paid $30 on Amazon and only replaced the originals so far.
I got to thinking and I tested, swapping sides/components and found a bad ballast on the right side, not the bulb, which the housing was holding a lot of water and apparently ran into the ballast and Fooked it up! So I ordered a new one from Amazon, like I did years ago and it was holding up good.
You can see from the photo, a lot of water dried up today and this was left.
Now, I had one headlight working and it was getting late when I returned home. I didn't think my head light was working, but I did not quite need it. When I arrived home and looked, no headlights, lo or high I forgot to change the ballast back to the good assembly after testing so I now assume I killed another ballast. I also have a ticking coming from drivers headlight, adaptive malfunction, no doubt.

I am sourcing replacement assemblies, fakebook market and ebay, etc. Like to just get a good set of used and not spend my lifes savings.
Question: What years and models do the adaptive headlights come, or do they only come on the Prestige models? I just need the part number ending with AL.

Also, adaptive lights, Do the headlights actually move with the steering wheel or is that only the separate lights come on for slow speed cornering? I know mine lift a little at 72 MPH? Right around there. I have never noticed them turning with the wheel.

Well, there's the guy parting out a Q7 listed his two used AL housings on Marketplace (this site) for $500 for the set, if they still there...dunno. That was recent though.

Here's a site that sells the OE, the OEM VALEO part # much, much cheaper, as well as other options:

The link goes direct to Valeo OEM part #, etc.

Thanks, I Seen those on the AW Marketplace, pricey.
I have both sides link tabbed in browser as an option. These come with everything excepting controls, which I could use from mine. Not a bad price for brand new. I have about 25 tabs dedicated just for headlights.
I am really hoping to locate 2 good lights complete from a salvage vehicle, local or semi anyway a little less expensive.

The Adaptive headlights swivel with the steering wheel. I’d be unsurprised if the change in angle is also modified by the vehicle’s speed. The Germans would actually consider that. It’s quite noticeable at night when making turns in a residential neighborhood, less so on fast sweepers (75mph) on suburban highways.
After swapping out for a pair of E-codes I have a couple NAR adaptive housings sitting on the shelf. You’d still need the three electronics modules per housing though. If you already have those on your current housings then it sounds like I have the parts you want.
  1. European Lights

What is the difference from NAR to ROW?
At this point, I would just love to see at night. Like the good ole days.

Is there anything wrong with yours, or did you just want EUro?
What would you need for the housings? AL's I assume.

The E-code headlights have a better cutoff on the upper part of the pattern and reach a little further down the road. Aesthetically they drop the orange reflector on the side which I don’t really care about. I just wanted the better nighttime pattern.
The stock NAR housings on my shelf are the 4L0 941 029 AL and … 030 AL models which are the Adaptive Bi-Xenon models. I’d certainly sell them for less than what you’re seeing on the websites listed in the above posts.

You need to chat with Jayhawk privately and get those non-leaking housings from him, LOL.

Well, if I can save $1000 on a used set, at this point, I would rather.
