Default Please help Door handle removal

Hi. I’m kind of stuck in a situation where I can’t remove the door handle on my Q7. I need to have both rear door handles removed for painting if they have developed rust. I sent the car in today and they called me later saying they tried all they can. called so many people, and can’t get the door handles off, specifically the “cylinder locks.” We searched online and saw that the clip needs to be moved up just a little bit, and too much will cause the clip to fall. Well, guess what. Someone has been in there and had the clip removed. They tried so many other things and couldn’t get it off. some of the plastic looks like it got damage scars on it from people trying to force it off, but now i bought the car, and can’t get it off. Lol. Is there anyone that can try to find a way to get past that? Thanks.

The internet search is generally your best friend on a used Q7:

I recently removed the rear door handles and the youtube video, description of sliding the clip, etc is correct.
I'm confused by your description of the problem. If the clip fell off, it should be EASIER to remove the door handle.
The sliding clip that moves up and down (and can be lost if slid too high) enables removal of the other sliding clip which moves fore and aft. When pulling the second clip towards the rear, it releases the lock cylinder.
In my experience, the first clip (up and down) is easy to access but challenging to manipulate. The second clip was very difficult to access with a pick tool that fits into a small hole and can be used to give it a tug rear-ward.
So me thinks your problem is with proper access and removal of the second clip. You're either not finding the proper access to pull it rear-ward, or the clip is stuck.
