**Yawn** early am (5:30) post just got up...... exhaust ? inside about my Nuespeed --->
OK, I love my Nuespeed exhaust 99.5% of the time. It is quiet at idle, sounds great around town driving moderately or even slightly aggressive at times. BUT at WOT it is just a little too much. It's not horrible, but I have had a couple people comment that it sounds really really nice but almost sounds like the tires are squealing when I nail it into second/third gear? Odd. It does have a scream to it at WOT.
Another way to put it would be to call it very "raspy" at WOT. I would rather it be a lot mellower of a tone, a deeper throaty sound.
OK, long post to get to the question ---> Would adding another resonator in the form of a "cherry bomb" type help this issue? You know, a straight through type that is maybe an inch + or so bigger than the inside diameter. I think there *may* be enough room forward of the Nuespeed resonator to add this. Maybe not.
The downpipe and related are in great shape. I know the rear section could be swapped out for something else but that seems extreme does it not?
Lastly, yes I know I could sell the whole thing and get another system..... that's too much to deal with right now and for the most part I love the system, I just want a deeper tone at WOT.
Thanks all, it's early, I worked a 12+ hour day of serious physical work yesterday and will be doing the same today...... uggggg. Owning a boatyard in June ~ in Maine is fun.
To be serious now, I really don't think an additional resonator would help the WOT sound problem. You would change the overall sound of the system and you may make things worse (too quiet) while not solving the actuall problem. I think the actual problem is the muffler design itself. I would try a different muffler before I'd try adding a resonator. I would try a Magnaflow 14862 to see what changes. I know the Borla systems had a similar sound at WOT and they changed the design of the muffler (v2) and my Borla never sounded as you describe.
It's just a thought. I'd have a hard time hacking my exhaust to see if I could change things. That's why I run stock with the Magnaflow muffler. I love the sound, it's perfect.
