Default **Yawn** early am (5:30) post just got up...... exhaust ? inside about my Nuespeed --->

So I just got up a half hour ago so if this post is some darn fine engrish I apologize in advance, Mica can bl 0 w me......

OK, I love my Nuespeed exhaust 99.5% of the time. It is quiet at idle, sounds great around town driving moderately or even slightly aggressive at times. BUT at WOT it is just a little too much. It's not horrible, but I have had a couple people comment that it sounds really really nice but almost sounds like the tires are squealing when I nail it into second/third gear? Odd. It does have a scream to it at WOT.

Another way to put it would be to call it very "raspy" at WOT. I would rather it be a lot mellower of a tone, a deeper throaty sound.

OK, long post to get to the question ---> Would adding another resonator in the form of a "cherry bomb" type help this issue? You know, a straight through type that is maybe an inch + or so bigger than the inside diameter. I think there *may* be enough room forward of the Nuespeed resonator to add this. Maybe not.

The downpipe and related are in great shape. I know the rear section could be swapped out for something else but that seems extreme does it not?

Lastly, yes I know I could sell the whole thing and get another system..... that's too much to deal with right now and for the most part I love the system, I just want a deeper tone at WOT.

Thanks all, it's early, I worked a 12+ hour day of serious physical work yesterday and will be doing the same today...... uggggg. Owning a boatyard in June ~ in Maine is fun.

Default I guess the point for you is that you're getting too old for loud exhausts =)

Me too! That's why us two old guys are posting while all the kids are still sleeping...

To be serious now, I really don't think an additional resonator would help the WOT sound problem. You would change the overall sound of the system and you may make things worse (too quiet) while not solving the actuall problem. I think the actual problem is the muffler design itself. I would try a different muffler before I'd try adding a resonator. I would try a Magnaflow 14862 to see what changes. I know the Borla systems had a similar sound at WOT and they changed the design of the muffler (v2) and my Borla never sounded as you describe.

It's just a thought. I'd have a hard time hacking my exhaust to see if I could change things. That's why I run stock with the Magnaflow muffler. I love the sound, it's perfect.

Default I've heard that the reason they make that noise is because the exhaust splits

into the two tips after the rear muffler and that borla changed the rear muffler to a one inlet/two outlet design to fix this problem with their system. Maybe you could just switch the rear muffler.

Default OT - S4 rear brake question from yesterday

check my picture poster. The tape measure is ~1" wide, and there is about 1/2" clearance on the face, and about 7/8" on the radius.

Default Do Boxster calipers fit under the 10 spokes?

From the pic in your poster, it looks like they do

Default With spacers they do, 5mm is safe, I have bolted them up to the car,

with spacers, but have not completed the install because they were borrowed spacers. Now time, and $2400 of dental work on one tooth (teach me to floss better) have slowed me down.

Default Thanks! I'll look into doing that. Does that muffler have nice tips? Heh he heh... tips.

Or does it replace the resonator?

Thanks again.

Default hmm, my wheels look like they're closer than that even...

I've been lucky enough to not scrape the calipers though. It's odd that the paint would just be missing in that one spot rather than the whole edge...sure something didn't get caught in there?
