well, winter is over and it's time to prepare for track/race days. while pulling out the new rotors and new hats, I found some rust on the sides of the rotor rings that were on the bottom of each shipping box. is this anything to be concerned about?

Left side has it on the pad contact surface while the Right side has it on the part were the hat will be assembled.

I was going to put them together and on this weekend, but, if this is an issue, I don't want to waste torque'ing down the new hat hardware.

I emailed Matt at Stoptech and am awaiting a reply.

I'm just curious if anyone else has seen them like this sitting around in a boxes that have been in my garage.

I assume that it'll be fine, since the current rotors are rusted and falling apart with no slots left...and are cracking on the surface.

Default i'd assume that's only surface rust and you're A-OK...

but def wait to hear back from matt to be totally sure. At $400+ a pair, it ain't worth messing around with :-P

Default Had similar rust spots on my OEM A8 rotors when I had them sitting waiting to be installed.

Installed and have been ran them for a good 30k plus if memory serves. Same rotors when I moved up from TT carriers to Porsche calipers.

My guess is they should be fine. Just a little moisture that built up when in your garage.
