Anyone notice that oil consumption goes WAY up with synthetic oils?
When I was running regular dino juice I wouldn't lose much oil, but on Mobil 1 I have to add 1 quart every 3,000 miles. WTF? My car passes smog with flying colors and it isn't leaking even the slightest bit from anywhere.
My mechanic seemed rather unconcerned about it and suggested I just keep feeding it oil.

If you are talking about a 2.8, 5w-30 does not belong in there. During change-over to synth, consumprion goes up. 1q/3k is not bad, you are probally paying more attn to it since it's $5 to top-off. Mobil 1 has high consumption. German Syntec burned just over 1.5q over 11,000 miles in my 30v. If you want specific recommendations, let me know more info.
