Low Speed Stalling
My son's 1997 A4 1.8T has developed the nasty habit of stalling as he lets off the accelerator and the engine falls back to idle speed. Any thoughts on potential causes? Car has about 68K on it. We just changed the timing belt at 65K (to avoid tensioner issues), we've been through the ICU? unit a year ago, the automatic door locks don't work, just put the second ignition switch in 12 months in it. The first one had the spring issue, the second seemed to develop a problem with the circuit that allows the engine to fire. How's that for a brain teaser? The car won't fire, turns over fine and it ends up being the nearly new switch. If it can go wrong on this car, it has. Reminds me a lot of my old 100 LS...oh no!!! At least my old Fox was a great car. I love these things, but they ought to come with a mechanic, or cheaper parts!
