I recently got my 97 1.8t and have just checked (by looking through the wheel spokes) the brake pads. The front looks good but the rear brakes, I can't see the pads. The car doesn't make any noise when braking and the disk looks fine. However, the past owener always seem to wait until the rotors went bad to replace the brakes (from the service history).
Do I need to take it in? Should I be able to see the rear pads? Are the rotors aleady shot?
