Replacing Cat And Downpipe
I need to replace the catalytic converter and downpipe. The dealer says the cat is covered under warranty but not the downpipe. The factory downpipe is $180 parts + $270 labor = $450.
I would like to do after market exhaust but I believe that would include a cat and I'm already getting one free with the warranty. I could go somewhere else to do the downpipe but the dealer is already going to be in there for the cat. Does an after market downpipe with stock cat make any sense? Can I buy an after market exhaust system minus a cat and hand it to the dealer to install while he does the stock cat? Any recommendations for my situation (half warranty work, half out of pocket but would like a better exhaust)?
