Since I'm losing my fog lights that doubled as DRLs, I came up with some wiring changes to my HID ecodes.

Instead of having my city lights come on with the parking lights, why not rewire then to the high beam circuit and control them with the headlight stalk and then wiring my high beams to the fog light circuit? Since the high beams put no more load on it than the fogs, no worries there.

My reasoning behind this is HIDs and the city lights are hard if not impossible to see during the daytime. However, since the high beams are still halogen, have a wider beam pattern, they are much more visible in daylight.

Yes, I understand the idea behind city lights and all and that's great, BUT why would I not want to show off my ecodes whenever possible? As far as I'm aware, I'm the only one with ecodes on all the A4s I've seen in the area. There's a B6 with HIDs lacking the yellow reflector, but I don't recall if they had robot eyes or not.

Default the only problem is imo the action on the brights switch would be reversed....

you won't be able to flash your brights either.

Default with stock wiring. when the stalk is pushed away from you the brights would be off....

on in the middle position and off when you pull to flash.

Default with stock wiring the fogs go off when the brights come on......

by connecting the brights to the fog wiring you reverse this.

Default He's assuming you dont have the independent fog light mod (which I dont know if you have or not)

When you want to have your city lights on you'd have the high beam stalk pushed forward, sending current to the thing near the glove cpt that tells the fogs to turn off, which would actually end up turning your high beams off any time you wanted your city lights to be on. The point is moot if you have your current fogs set up to be independent of other lights.

Default My fogs are independant (hence their use as DRLs) AND I don't have that rely

box behind the glove box seeing as I have a '97.

That's why I couldn't understand JAFO and his otherwise valid point.

with this mod in place you'll need to use the dash switch to control your brights.
