STANDARD DISCLAIMER: You are editing parts of the windows boot file and run the risk of making your computer un-bootable. In the unlikely case you do this: 1. You did not read my directions step-by-step like you should have; 2. I will not be held responsible for said damage nor will I tell you how to fix it.
Right-click the picture below to save the image, change the "Save as type:" to "All Files", name it "boot.bmp" and save it to "C:\Windows\".
<img src="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y293/FastA4Turbo/audi/boot.jpg">
Go to "Run" and type in "notepad C:\boot.ini". In the file add "/noguiboot /bootlogo" in either order (it shouldn't matter) to the line that loads Windows, i.e.:
"multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micr osoft Windows XP Professional SP2" /FASTDETECT /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /noguiboot /bootlogo"
Reboot your computer and check to make sure it loads! Because you aren't modifying the kernel file or any other sort of file, this will work regardless of the service pack you have and should work on Win2k or above though I've only tested on XP SP2.
Enjoy!
