help! dealer says I need a new engine...
they first replaced a/c control head. didn't fix the problem.
next they replaced the waterpump which was leaking. (I recently did my tb/wp. heater was not working even before I replaced the wp/tb)
still not fixed.
now they are telling me that coolant is not coming back out of the engine. it is being pumped in, but is clogged?
they want $1600 to pull the head and send it to a machine shop, not even guaranteed to be covered by the warranty company.
is there a way to flush the engine to fix the coolant clog? what do you guys think i should do?
there were no signs before that the car was overheating.
Anyway . . . I would look at that (do you have any proof that your coolant is not cycling? have you noticed your engine being hotter than usual?)
A little crude, but you get the idea.
I've heard there are ways to flush the system, I've done it to boat motors before with a chemical cleaner that eats the clogs. I however don't know about doing that to an Audi with all the different metals etc. The motors I've done are simply cast iron blocks. You introduce an acid to a bunch of dissimilar metals in an Audi system = battery = it will EAT parts of it... FAST!!!!

Assuming you have no engine over-heating here.
That's why Audi calls for coolant flush every other year to get rid of coroding amterial in the cooling systems.
