Lighting/Wiring questions??

Going to tackle retrofitting foglights to my 98.5 this weekend.

Question one - Can the stock foglight housing for 99.5+ handle 100w bulbs?

Question two - I was planning on re-using the rear fog light switch in the dash for the new fogs by moving the rears and old fronts to the same switch. Will there be a problem?

Question three - what size relay should I use for the new fogs, especially if I go to 100w bulbs, and is there a one that i can obtain at a VW dealer?

Question four - where should I mount the new relay? Up in the forward engine compartment or by the kick panel? I don't know if there is an open slot on the relay plate.

can't help you with 2-4 but in regards to question 1 the housings should

have no issues with 100 watt bulbs as long as the wiring is sufficient... People have retrofitted HID lights in the fog housings. I would not use the stock wiring to handle a 100 watt bulb though.

this tech will help with the switch mod you want to make....

the easiest way to do this would be to have the rear fog switch run thr rear fogs and the bumper mounted front fogs. while using the front fogs switch to run the in headlight fogs.<ul><li><a href="https://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext10.shtml">https://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext10.shtml</a</li></ul>
