Default where to buy a used 2000 avant rear license plate panel

hello
We picked up a 2000 avant wagon and the rear panel where the license plate attaches the previous owner stripped most of the holes for mounting the plate.
is there a used one out there on the forums someone has for sale or can someone send me in the right direction to find one?

thanks in advance
Scott

You had to replace the whole hatch for that panel? I sure hope that isn't the case.

Brutal.

It looks like it's fiberglass repair education time.

Yeah, that does suck. The only plate holder I could find was for the front bumper.

same here. hoping for a good news e-mail tomorrow from sales.
otherwise I'll make something work. sure can't dump that kind of cash for a few stripped holes in fiberglass.

Default here is what I did that has been working for about a year . . . layered about 5 layers of Ductape ..

over the stripped hole and screwed the screw into that.

as far as fiberglass repair, if you look at the way the screw hole is in there, you might not have to repair the fiberglass at all.

There is a metal bracket pushed into the fiberglass holding a normal square nut.

If your threads are messed up you could try to carefully pull the bracket out with the nut, and replace the nut.

I just pulled and broke the fiber glass, might be very easy to do from the inside though.

just trying to help you learn from my mistakes
