Default Holy F. 2 bolts holding the turbo to the manifold came out like butter, but the 3rd...

felt like it was cross threaded in. I know it went in easily when I installed the turbo. All I'm doing now is changing the gasket. PB Blaster and patience got it out, but that was scary. Now I need a new turbo mount bolt. It looks like I had to use too much force to get it out last time because the head's a little rounded, so this one is not going back in. Maybe I'll finally see a better CAPS time after this.

Default you had an exhaust leak?

btw, you know that you are suppose to tight the turbo bracket bolt/exhaust manifold bolts and cat bolts in a specified order. if you tightened the bracket bolt FIRST, you will continue to get a leak at the manifold.

Default Yeah. It was fine for a while after I installed the turbo. I don't recall when I first noticed it

nor do I recall the order in which I tightened everything up. I don't remember that being specified in any write-ups, either. I can see what you're saying, though. I'll make sure to crank down the manifold bolts first.

Default YGM. It'll be safe to replace the existing washers 1 at a time after the gasket is in, right?

I don't want to compromise the gasket seal once I get it back together and I'm just too impatient to wait for the nord lock washers.

Default you know like anything you need to retighten after say 500, 1000, and 5000 miles

or at least make sure they are still tight

Default get all the bolts finger tight...

then bolt the manifold bolts tight. then the cat...

make sure the bracket is in contact with the turbo, then bolt that to full torque last.

the order is buried in the bentley manual for a turbo swap i believe.
