Default Installed nav+, powers on, but can't enter SAFE code.

Hi All,

I got my RNS-D in, but when I power the unit up and get to the code screen, it won't allow me to select the numbers to enter the code. I am using the right **** to scroll, but the cursor doesn't move off 1. It seems like the only buttons that work are the power on/off.

When I power the unit on, the Audi logo with the rings is the welcome screen, which probably means my car isn't coded for navigation yet, but I don't see why this would affect the function of the *****.

Also, I have a non-CANbus car, so I didn't connect any CAN wires to the 26 pin harness. I don't think CAN is needed for the unit to function though, only to get the information in the DIS.

Lastly, I didn't connect anything to the reverse wire because I don't plan on installing a reverse camera. I don't see any other function of connecting the reverse wire.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my unit?

Thanks!
Chard

Default It needs Can-Bus to operate properly, there are known issues with this...

You really should have searched before starting this project. Check out the following links...

It is needed. I tapped two wires from the back of the cluster. Email me if you have problems.

Default i did research it.

After researching, I was under the assumption that CAN was only needed for the FIS.

I guess it's needed to get the unit working too. Weird how it powers up but won't even scroll though.

I'll try to tap the wires from the instrument cluster tonight.

Default it's made for the b5 so it fits in place of the Symphony I unit

It's tough to find a unit though since the RNS-E units are out now. I don't think they make the RNS-Ds anymore.

You're going to have to find a used one if you want this.

Default Though one. It probably will be expensive as well. I might get a Tom Tom or Magellon unit.

Easier, cheaper(?), but not as good looking....
