Power Steering Flush - Turkey Baster Method.....
I'm going to change out my ps fluid using the turkey baster method.
Once i remove out the old fluid from the tank, then refil, how many times would you turn the wheel from click to click before the old fluid from the pump comes back into the tank?
I've read about people going for a drive around the block between each time, needed?
Can the cap be open as engine is on so I will see the when the old fluid comes back into the tank?
Thanks
It took 2 liters to flush it and each time I started the engine to pump it through, I immediately turned the engine off and it still drained the reservoir: I was a little freaked out about letting the engine run for even a couple of seconds.
My local Advance Auto Parts (New Milford, CT) carries Pentosin 7.1. Still $20 a liter, but for me, it was a lot closer than Danbury Audi.
The tech article about changing the fluid for an A8 was helpful, but the addendum for the a6 was even more useful as they have the same configuration we have in the A4.
Finally, watch the grommet that holds the bottom of the reservoir to the body, Mine popped out and disappeared into a boxed body member. I improvised with a rubber hose washer and layers of duct tape.
