2.8 30v exhaust and intake cam timing dilemma

Has anyone else had a similar dilemma with regards to chain roller count and gear notch marks. While replacing the cam tensioner gasket (passenger side rear of engine) I inadvertently removed too many cam journal bearing caps and the intake and exhaust cams were rotated out of sync. While trying to restore, I am seriously questioning my painted marks on my chain and gears. Manual calls for 16 chain rollers between the gear notches. My dilemma is that the intake cam notch is located centered between two gear teeth (include this in the count) the exhaust cam on the otherhand, the notch is located slightly clockwise from the center of the two gear teeth. (Do I still include this in the count, I think I should because without, the gear notches will not line up with the timing marks on the cam bearing caps.

Did your paint dots extend from the chain to the gears? If so, you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks Chris The way I marked them was two gear tooth tips and the chain roller that fell between them on each cam. If I use these marks, the roller count is 15 between the marks or 16 if I include the roller just ccw from the exhaust cam mark. Right now I have 16 between the notches w/o paint marks lined up and intake notch is well past timing mark on cap. I'm thinking to restore to paint marks to see how the notches line up with the cap marks

ps used one of your previous posts sometime ago(almost yr and half) regarding zerk fittings in the control arms. That took care of the clunking noise not back since
