What is a good winter tire?

I know this issue has been beat to the ground, but i have Dunlop sp8000's on sport wheels now. I am buying a pair of used A4 rims for the winter. I was wondering if anybody has recomendations of a winter/all season/ snowtire..
I live in NJ so i don't drive through snow all winter, but i go to VT and Mt Creek every weekend to snowboard in the winter..so i was looking for something between a snowtire and all weather or something..thanks fo the help...

Since you have dedicated summer tires and wheels, I recommend that you avoid all-season tires and go straight to a winter tire. There are many good choices. No doubt you will get responses for all of the tires carried by the Tire Rack.

I went with the Vredestein Wintrac last season and I'm happy with them.
