Question about the Bridgestone RE040 vs. RE730s......
Why do the RE040 cost twice as much as the RE730s, when everyone says the RE730s are much better tire than the OEM RE040s? Between the NHSTA complaints about the RE040s, and everyone saying the tire just plain suck, I can't figure out why they cost so much.
Of course, this is NOTHING new for Audi....this company has always put pathetic rubber on their cars for some stupid reason.<p><img src=" http://www.quattroclubusa.org/r/florida/newlogo.jpg " border="0">

What tire would the average car owner ask for when getting replacements? The SAME ones, thus
the tire companies charge a premium for those Original Equipment tires such as the RE040s.
Also, to be able to get that tire on a given car, the tire company has to give a good deal to the car manufacturer. But that's okay, cuz they're gonna screw the customer when they want the replacements. Meanwhile, the customer sees how much the tires cost and thinks "Oh wow, my car came with really good tires"

The RE730 is NOT 'replacing' the RE040s.

I think i remember the RE070s being phased out a while ago, that might be it.

I also think the 040 price has to do with numbers fitted. It's only on the TT, S4 and Z8
as far as I know, stock. And none of these three cars are going to rack up sales above 20K per year combined! (more like 15K, but I was inflating my number to make sure I was correct.)
