Question about A4 brake pad upgrade/install.
The pads are going on my 99.5 a4 Avant with 11.5k miles. Rotors seem to be in good shape. Should the installer sand the rotors or clean them in any way? Once the pads are installed, I'm planning on going out to a frontage road for the bedding-in:
8 to 10 stops from ~50mph to 5mph with moderate and steady pressure on the brakes. Then drive for 30 seconds or 1/3 of a mile or so to let them cool.
I'm also planning on doing the NorCal Audi drive up to Mt. Hamilton this Sunday. Do I need to take it easy on the brakes for this drive? I would assume so, even after the bedding-in process.
The EBC literature is pretty clear about a break-in period and advises against heavy breaking during this period. It's a little unclear just how long this process will take. I assume this has a lot to do with the condition of the rotors.
Advice is appreciated. If you want to send e-mail, click on my registry entry, you'll see it there.
Thanks in advance! I love this place....<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=2696">
