Experiencing 3.5mpg less with 17" wheel upgrade -- normal?
I used to get 28 mpg on the highway with my stock 99.5 V6. After upgrading to 17" wheels (22lbs/each) with 225/45/17 Toyo Proxes T1-S tires (36psi), new suspension, and K&N air filter I'm experiencing about 24.5 mpg now. I was expecting a 1-2 mpg dropoff, but not this much. I always use 93 octane gasoline, and highway cruising was at 70-75mph before & after.
I also tried 94 octane for the first time and only experience .7-1 mpg better mileage. Don't think it's really worth the extra money...

are you sure you're not just driving more aggressively?
i usually notice a dropoff in my mpg after i make a mod, since i'm subconsciously testing it out. i'd give it a couple of tanks and see if it settles out. in general, changing to larger rims shouldn't have any effect, unless they're substantially heavier and you're having to push the pedal more to get them going.

Meem is right - I did not see any differnece
I went from sport wheels to 17"x7.5" MAS MGRs. I did not see a change in my mileage - though I did drive a little more agressive. I am running ~40 psi on the tires. Have you checked your air pressure?
