Thinking about the Volks but they only come in 7.5 in width..
Most people have at least 8 or 8.5 for a 18" wheel. Is 7.5 ok? What kind of difference well a thinner wheel make? And how much? By the way these are going on a 00' S4

7.5" is right for these wheels
the offset of the volks is such that you wouldn't want an 8 or 8.5 inch width -- as it is, they fill out the wheel well just perfectly.
that said, i'm not sure why so many people are so crazy about the 8 and 8.5 inch widths -- the fact is that it's the *tire width* determining the patch size, not the wheel, and most of the folks running 8 and 8.5 inch widths are running 235's just like everyone else. perhaps i'm missing something, but all i see the increased width doing is adding additional unsprung weight and making it easier to get curb damage. imho, 7.5 is the optimal width.
