Default Questions... please help...

I just bought 18x8 MAS MGR Wheels for my car.. the fellow that was helping me out at Discount Tire said that I should go with a 215/40/18 fitment.. is this correct? I know many people use 225/40/18 so i was wondering about the small 5% discrepency in the size. Basically his rationalization was that this size would prevent rubbing. Is this guy correct? What sizes is everyone else running and do they rub?

Thanks all.. I did a search in the archives and to no avail.. sorry if this sound repetitive.

Any comments Eddie?

Regards,

Default I have 225/45/17 s on my MAS MGRs.

I don't know what your offset is on the 18"ers but on mine it is 40mm (stock is 45). I would say that if I can run 225s with out any problems - and others can run 235s on their 17" rims I would not think you would have a problem especially if you offset is greater than 40.

There are people running 18" MGRs here - I've asked them to post pictures but have not seen any.

Do you rub at all Reggie? Also.. how do they adjust the offset?

Default No rubbing

Offset is determined by the wheel itself. It is the distance the wheel inside flange is from the centerline of the wheel.

Go to the tirerack website for a good description.
Link below.

I also used Discount Tire - They were quite good but had trouble getting the correct hubcentric rings and also the correct lug bolts (My MGRs took a longer bolt than stock and they had to special order some that also took the same size lug wrech socket - so that I could use the stock lug wrench that came with the car.)

You do not want 215s on the wheel. The wheel rim will be wider than the tire and make it easier to scrap the rim.

Good Luck - You might be able to get more response tomorrow
