Nokian update: haka 1 and 2 (long)
Most folks who've been posting since Jet know that I'm lukewarm on Nokian. I don't like their summer tires and the winter tires are VASTLY overrated, with remarkable cult appeal. In spite of this experience (09-10), I do like the studded haka 1 for ice and the q for quiet, mixed-conditions.
The new haka 2, as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, (and in my user review of 6 winter tires which they won't post) is probably the best full-snow/ice tire in the world. Unfortunately, it was euro only this year. I was told that I would have to buy a crate to even test them.
Well, they now say that they are open to having a NE us dealer (see the website) purchase some for this winter!!! Since there are essentially only 3 Audi tire sizes this would be a great group buy.
Unfortunately, my rigs are all winter tired-up with new tires: winterdeuler/haka1 (We are in our third snow). My local dealer (old man-free beef) put the wrong studs in my Hak 1's, and the Nokian USA tech was superbly helpful and got a *new* set factory studded and reshipped without me even having to ask!
