Default Good Wet Performance

I have Eagle HP All-Seasons on my stock 16" A4 2.8 currently, and need to replace them. They were OK performance-wise, but have really become noisy. I've decided I don't need winter tires, but I do want good wet performance during the winter. Are "summer" performance tires still good in the wet at 35-40 degrees, or should I stick with all-seasons? Any recommendations?

Default Re: Good Wet Performance

I've owned both SP8000E's (stock) and RE730's, and both have been fine in 35-40 degree weather in the wet. Both are good wet traction tires.

However, they're both terrible on snow/ice/sleet, so unless 40 degrees and rainy is as bad as it gets where you live, you might want to consider all-seasons anyway.

If All-Season, take a look at the Dunlop SP5000s

Default I have Pilot Sports which are decidedly not winter but...

...they handle the wet like it is dry. I was blown away by how well they stuck during the Quattro Challenge wet course. I drove the course like it was dry. In fact in some ways the slight loss of traction in the wet made it easier to get around the tightest corners more quickly than on the dry course.

Default Bridgestone Potenza S-02 Pole Positions kick butt in rain...

They are awesome in dry too, they are the tires of choice for many of us in the NorCal Audi club.

And when the tires run low on tread, a sticker silica compound is exposed which gives the tires better grip in the wet...

A bit pricey, but worth it.
