Subject: [Corrado-L] Other Kumho Tires- Don't Buy
For all of you that have Kumho tires or plan to buy, please be careful. I
purchased a set of 4 205/40/ZR17 Ecsta Supra tires about 4 months ago.
Today, on both of my front tires the tread separated from the rest of the
tire. I contacted Kumho directly and they basically said they have had that
problem before, and they were going to do nothing for me. They said I could
return the two defective tires to the place where I bought them for prorated
replacement. They don't even want to do anything for me with the rear
tires that have yet to separate. Any suggestions for my situation? BTW,
all of the tires were bought at the Tire Rack.
TIA,

More information would be good...alignment history, even tire wear prior to this event, tire pressure over the tire's life, etc. It's odd to me that both front tires went, and the rear tires are fine so far.
I have bought lots of stuff in my life, wasted many many dollars. My take on tires is to spend a bit more on these...if someone wants to get a less that stellar quality wheel (because they plan to scrape it) then I agree with that tact...but this push for buying tires like the Kumho Ecsta's is just not my bag.
I hope there isn't a big uprising from a number of the current Ecsta owners on this separation issue.
Again, just my 2 cents worth....I will crawl back into my cave again.

I just made a decision not to skrimp on tire quality. To me, tires are very important.
