SP5000's are SUPERB in this lousy PA weather.

In the snow? I am in DC and...
just experienced my SP8000s for the first time in the snow and am just glad to be alive. I am debating right now on going with a dedicated winter tire, i.e. Blizzaks or Alpins, or going with a HP all-season like the SP5000s - any feedback is appreciated. I need to do something ASAP! Thanks.

I have LM22's (near Philly), and so far I find them very similar to a good all season.
I've only tried them on ice and light snow. They might excel in deeper snow vs. an all season, but we don't get much of that around here.
Given that the availability of high perf winter tires is somewhat sketchy, I'd probably suggest saving yourself some aggravation and getting the SP5000's. They should be readily available, and they will offer better dry weather performance that a snow, and pretty comparable foul weather performance to a high perf. snow.
