New snow tires (problem)
Just put Dunlop winter sport m2s on. Noticed 1 problem...at 75 to 80, a low vibration occurs and the steering wheel shakes a little. Noticed the tire installer did not put any weights on front wheels and I questioned him on that. He said they were balanced and did'nt need them...but will re-calabrate wheel balancer and redo for me. If this does not solve the problem then the tires might be "out of round." Anyone have any ideas as to other causes/reasons???

Was it a wheel/tire package from Tirerack? (more)...
If so, the weights are the stick-on type on the inside of the wheel rather than the rim-mounted hammer-on type and can be hard to see.
Also, Tirerack recommends retorquing the lug bolts after 75-100 miles of use (90 ft-lbs for an A6). I found that a couple of my lug bolts had slightly loosened during the 75-100 mile period. Maybe that is the source of the vibration.
I'm am running the same tires and have had no vibration problems. Mine are mounted on ATP S5 rims and were superbly balanced by Tirerack. They are a truly first-class outfit!
Finally, are the lug bolts suitable for the seats on the wheels? Tirerack ships matching lugs bolts with their wheels to ensure best fit.

was not the wheel/tire package...I was asked if I wanted my weights on the inside and I said no since I will change OEM wheels once the Dunlop sp9000 wear out.
Thanks for tip on the 90 lbs torque. I'll ask about that when they "rebalance" the wheel. If its out of round I am sure Tirerack will send new ones.

I would go to one of the places that carry the latest equipment. They should be able to diagnois the problem better. I thought I had the link to Hunters web page that had a list of all the places with the new equipment but I can not find it.
