I ordered my PZero Rosso's on my 18" Ronal LZ's from him, in 235/40-18 size for $200/tire. He shipped me 225/40-18 PZero Rosso's, which look and seem like they'll fit fine on the car, and Gary told me that 235/40-18's won't fit on the S4 today, that 3 people had shipped them back recently (not told to me last week -- only that he wouldn't mount a 245 or 255 for an S4), stating if he told me they would last week he was mistaken, so what I want is the price difference between a 235/40 and a 225/40 ($33/tire per tirerack's prices -- $231 vs. $198). Gary won't do that since my $200 price is "good price". I thought I was getting a great price, and that's why I took PZero Rosso's instead of a different brand tire. I wouldn't have bought the Ronal LZ's nor the PZero Rosso's had I not gotten a great price, so the fact that I "saved" a lot of money on them or got a good price is irrelevant. The post last week about the special was oddly deleted from the forum. I wonder how long before this one will be.

 

Gary promised they wouldn't. He had to jump through hoops to get them returned and refunded. He order wheels and tires from Gary, and immediately they rubbed and BAD. Gary practically denied that shouldn't happen but they were returned. I don't know if he has the credit yet for them.

 

I have had worse from the Rack. And, FAR wrose from a company that sells British wheels in the East Coast.

He sold you the tires that actually worked and quite frankly the tires vary in width from mold to mold (red vs. yellow) for the same nominal size. You are asking for a price rebate because he changed his mind to something that actually fit. The real choice for you, IMHO, is to return the whole kit for a full refund or just be mum.

I'm not surprised. Look at Ronal's website. I wouldn't trust folks with no prices on website...

 

My experiences will Ronal over the past 4 years are completely different from what you describe. I ordered R-28's from them for my '97 A4 and got exactly what I wanted and ordered at a GREAT price. Gary can at times come across as patronizing, but I've come to know that it's because he understands his business and has strong opinions about right and wrong. But I have never heard other substantiated claims about Ronal doing bad business or treating customers wrong. I suggest you contact him personally and try to find a mutually satisfying resolution.

he can be a bit of a jerk at times...he's a total male chauvinist as many of you well know from some of his many tasteless posts (In the immortal words of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe "Nothing shows a man's character more than what he laughs at")

Anyhow...all that nonsense aside, he has in the past gone way out of his way to make things possible for me. For instance I recount the following story. I had expressed an interest in the Ronal R7 wheel, but I badly wanted to see them in person first. Gary agreed that I should stop buy and see them at his place in Huntington Beach...I got off to a rather late start leaving work to come meet up with him...I was supposed to get there no later than 6 PM, he ended up waiting around till about 7:30~7:45 on a Friday. It was too late for me to get a set mounted up and on the car as his workers had left for the day long before I arrived...so he agreed to have one of his guys drive from Huntington Beach to Northridge...about 150~160 miles round trip at no additional charge and they installed them on my car using two hydraulic jacks in the parking lot of my employer. I tipped his guy $20 for his effort...and he went on his way. Ohh and to top it off they took my old R28's and sold them for me...a week later the check was in the mail for the exact amount Gary had promised...$600 for the set with badly worn P7000 SS's on them...not too shabby IMHO.

I'm not sticking up for him...but I just want to point out that he's not all bad. I think he just lacks tact sometimes and because of it he comes off as being cocky and arrogant...but he's actually a pretty decent person.

and he knows what he is talking about. Frankly I think a lot of the folks on this site are arrogant flamers, Gary supports Audi functions and offers a good product at a great price, if you don't like shop elsewhre but I have had lots of bad info from Tire Rack and local tire dealers are mostly uninformed.

 

I know them well enough to know they are posting it how it is.
