comments on Pilots
Haven't heard any negatives "ever" on this or any other forum re; the Pilot Sport. They are sig more expensive in any config.(225/50/16, 235/45/17, etc) than other Max/Ultra tires. Are Pilots 50% "better" overall, for So. Cal, or any other measure? PS: Obvious refs are Poles, 9000s, AVS, and Rosso.

New pilots are weak compared to the old ones...
They are NOT worth sig. more. The BFG KD's are far superior exc. in wet, and the SO2 is the same in wet and dry for a lot less. The old pilot was superb in the dry, near the KD with more tread. Now it is a wet ...pansy... tire for the oem world.

Another view
I have 225/40x18 Pilot Sports on my A4 and cannot imagine owning a better all round tire. It is relatively smooth and quiet on the street - at modest pressures and for a 40 series tire. It exhibited HUGE grip on both dry and wet courses at the Audi Quattro challenge, where I turned in the lowest time per lap on the dry coursr in my 30 car group - including other A4, S4, A6, TT and A8 - and was a couple tenths off the best time of the day, and was able to drive the wet course nearly flat out.
Other than the wheels/tires and the optional Audi/Eibach sport springs my car is stock.
