Identify the cause of this tire wear pattern (revised picture)...
Both front tires on my 2000 S4 (11K miles) had completely worn off inner treads, but the rest of the tire (stock Blowtenzas) was hardly worn at all.
I rotated the tires, and within 100 miles I had the wear pattern shown in the drawing.
I've checked all over the web, but haven't seen this pattern described.
Camber wear would be slower and more even. Toe wear would wear the inside of the inner tread or the outside of the outer tread (but would be fast too.)
Any tire wear experts out there?
How could overinflation cause this? and why would it start when moved to the front with no change in inflation?
...Inside wore off before the outside. I just figured it was high speed cornering. I took this picture the day I replaced the tires. These tires had 35000km of good driving on them when I replaced them. I rotated them every 8000km f-r except for the last 16000km.
I'm now running the Michelin Pilot Sports. My next tires will be Dunlop SP9000
