What's the "real" base tire size for 2.7T?

What's the "real" base tire size for 2.7T?
Just wondering... when plus-sizing on a 2.7T, should I compare to the 215/55-16 size on the 2.7T, or the 205/55-16 size on the 2.8? Did Audi recal the speedo (and chip) for the new tire size, or just figure it's within spec? If so, wouldn't it make sense to base all comparison's on the 205/55? In which case, the "better" tire size for 18's would seem to be 235/35-18, instead of the 235/40-18 that most people "in-the-know" seem to recommend.
Any thoughts?
